Voice Students Sing at Christening of the "Gerald R. Ford"

On Saturday, Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. EST, the nation's newest aircraft carrier, the "Gerald R. Ford," named in honor of the 38th president of the United States and esteemed alumnus of the University of Michigan, was christened in Newport News, VA. Performing at the ceremony, at the request of President Ford's family, was a quartet of SMTD graduate voice students: Jean Bernard Cerin, Leann Schuering, Katie Calcamuggio, and Jesse Donne. The group, named "The Victors Quartet," sang the National Anthem and God Bless America and the ceremony was streamed live from the website of Newport News Shipbuilding, which now hosts a replay of the enitre webcast. The performances by the quartet can be seen at 15:00 minutes and 1:41:00 minutes.
