Costume Exhibit at Duderstadt Gallery

An exhibit of costumes and renderings from the 2011-12 theatre, dance, musical theatre, and opera productions will be on display at the Duderstadt Center Gallery from September 4-21, 2012. Titled “Costumes By Design,” the exhibit will feature selections from 10 productions including Chicago, Suddenly Last Summer, Cloud Nine, The Rake’s Progress, and The Beaux’ Stratagem. The exhibit was organized and curated by Jessica Hahn, professor of costume design and head of design and production for the Department of Theatre & Drama. Costumes for the 2011-12 season were designed by Hahn, Christianne Myers (assistant professor of theatre), guest designers Rachel Laritz, Jeff Bauer, and Suzanne Young, and student designer Katie Rouse. Costumes for SMTD productions are sewn and assembled by University Production staff in the costume shop at the Walgreen Drama Center where students work as assistant designers and in various other capacities such as stitchers, costume crafts or hair and make-up. The gallery, located within the James and Anne Duderstadt Center at 2281 Bonisteel Blvd., will be open from 12 PM to 6 PM daily during the exhibit.
