Cassie is an assistant professor at the University of Iowa, where she has been since 2012. Before joining the faculty, she worked as a university administrator, including serving as an Assistant Dean at Dartmouth College. Cassie earned her doctorate (2005-2012) from the University of Michigan’s School of Education in higher education – organization, behavior and management. Her research examines the ways that universities, as organizations, contribute to democracy and civic life. This work includes examining episodes of campus mobilization and protest. Her work has been funded by the John Templeton Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, and the Norwegian government, among others. Cassie attributes her dance training as essential for having prepared her to apply an interdisciplinary approach in her current career as a scholar.
